King of Props: Rolling with a rookie
Tennessee and Indianapolis were the two favorites in the AFC South to begin the season, but neither has a winning record through three weeks. Despite being the defending division champs, the Titans stand at 1-2 and find themselves looking up at both the 1-1-1 Colts and the 2-1 Jaguars. As the team visits Indy and tries to even its record on the first Sunday of October, a rookie playmaker will be counted on to take another step forward:
The bet: Over 41½ receiving yards for Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks (DraftKings)
As the 18th overall pick in this year’s draft, Burks carries high expectations that he’s shown only glimpses of meeting. He exceeded this yardage total in both Weeks 1 and 2, but only two of his eight receptions have gone for 20+ yards.
Although he ran a route on 97% of Ryan Tannehill’s dropbacks last week, Burks registered just a single catch. He clearly needs more opportunities, and that’s exactly what offensive coordinator Todd Downing said he intends to facilitate.
Meanwhile, Titans running back Derrick Henry is averaging just 3.6 yards per rush, which is more than a full yard less than his career average. He’s unlikely to get well against a Colts defense that holds opponents to a league-leading 2.6 yards per attempt, so this is the week for Burks to shine.
