King of Props: Sterling showing in prime time

A storied NFC East rivalry adds another chapter when the Giants host the Cowboys tonight at MetLife Stadium. This will be the 12th time the two teams have met on Monday Night Football, with Dallas holding an 8-3 series advantage. But it’s New York that enters the game unbeaten, and if first-year head coach Brian Daboll is going to extend his career record to 3-0, he’ll want regular involvement from his most reliable pass catcher:

The bet: Over 4½ receptions for Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (FanDuel)

A torn Achilles suffered in Week 15 cut short Shepard’s 2021 season, and his recovery from surgery extended into training camp. He didn’t start the opening-day win over the Titans but did score a 65-yard touchdown on a deep pass from Daniel Jones.

Shepard returned to his usual role against the Panthers in Week 2, getting targeted 10 times – good for a 29% share – and making six catches. Despite the presence of splashy free-agent signee Kenny Golladay and heralded first-round pick Kadarius Toney, Shepard has easily played the most snaps at receiver for the Giants.

Under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, the Cowboys put pressure on the quarterback and force a lot of quick throws. Shepard will often be operating out of the slot and should make this number without much opposition.
