King of Props: Striking gold
Despite playing in the same division as last season’s champion (Rams) and first wild card (Cardinals), the 49ers and Seahawks are the only teams still vying for NFC West supremacy. San Francisco sits on top with a 9-4 record, but injuries to both Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo have thrust quarterbacking duties onto rookie Brock Purdy, who is listed as questionable. The expectation is that “Mr. Irrelevant” makes his first road start, and he can help bring home our top prop:
The bet: Over 51½ receiving yards for 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (DraftKings)
With Deebo Samuel likewise sidelined due to ankle and MCL sprains, Aiyuk becomes the unquestioned No. 1 receiver. He had already been performing at a high level, scoring a career-high nine touchdowns and putting himself roughly on pace for his first 1,000-yard season.
One of the few factors limiting Aiyuk’s production has been lopsided games like Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers. He recorded two catches for 57 yards and a score as the 49ers built a 28-0 halftime lead, but then Purdy attempted just three passes in the second half. Another example is the Week 11 rout of the Cardinals in which his only two receptions went for TDs.
Aiyuk excels at creating separation and can quickly turn short throws into long gains. Seeing an increased target share while facing a Seahawks pass defense that ranks in the middle of the pack, he should get some golden opportunities tonight.
