Kyler Murray returns Cardinals pictures to Instagram account

March 8 could prove to be quite the historic day regarding big-name NFL quarterbacks, one of whom may have unofficially put to bed any speculation that he could play elsewhere later this year.

On the same day that four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers tweeted he is "excited" to return to the Green Bay Packers for another season and that reports surfaced the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to send one-time Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos in a blockbuster trade that includes multiple players and draft picks, Kyler Murray returned photos of him wearing Arizona Cardinals gear to his Instagram:

Murray, the first-overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, curiously and unexpectedly scrubbed his Instagram of any mention of the Cardinals last month and also unfollowed the team amid rumors he wanted to sign a long-term contract extension this offseason. Erik Burkhardt, Murray's agent, released a statement on Feb. 28 saying his client is committed to the Cardinals but that it was on the club to get a deal done as soon as possible to benefit all involved.

Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury admitted last Tuesday he didn't know that statement was coming beforehand but added that "our long-term goal here is to have Kyler be our quarterback." General manager Steve Keim then said he thought the statement was merely an example of "an agent doing his job" and that the Cardinals intend to pick up the fifth-year option attached to Murray's rookie contract.

For a piece published on Monday, Jeremy Cluff of The Arizona Republic wrote that "there appears to be a growing sense of pessimism for a quick or happy resolution" among multiple knowledgeable individuals as it pertains to Murray's desire for an extension. Perhaps the signal-caller's latest social media activity is a direct response to such talk.
