Kyler Murray made some significant changes to his social media profiles over the weekend, and Arizona Cardinals fans are concerned that the star quarterback may be sending a message.

Those who follow Murray on Instagram and Twitter noticed that he scrubbed almost all Cardinals-related content from his accounts. Murray also no longer follows the Cardinals on either platform. He deleted all but two of his Instagram posts — one with photos from Sunday’s Pro Bowl and the other from three years ago when he won the Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma.

Check it out:

It’s possible that Murray simply wanted to purge his social media accounts, but that seems unlikely. We have seen players pull similar moves in the past when they are unhappy with their teams or their contract situations. Could that be the issue with Murray?

Murray is under team control with the Cardinals through 2023. They have until May to pick up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. The former Oklahoma star is also eligible for a contract extension this offseason, so perhaps he is setting the tone for what could be a tense negotiation.

Murray will likely be eyeing a deal similar to the one Josh Allen got from the Buffalo Bills last year, which was $258 million over six years. It’s possible his representatives and the team have already had some preliminary discussions and Murray is unhappy with the way things are headed.

Or, we could all be reading into this too much. Keep in mind that another Cardinals star did something similar in the past when he was unhappy with the team. Murray undoubtedly knew the social media changes would create a buzz.
