Pro Bowl RB James Conner 'would love' to return to Cardinals

Running back James Conner earned his first Pro Bowl nod during a stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh drafted Conner in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. His tenure there ended when he put pen to paper on what was essentially a one-year "prove it" deal with the Arizona Cardinals last spring. Conner proved plenty, per ESPN stats, as he led his new employer with 752 yards on the ground and scored a total of 18 touchdowns (15 rushing, three receiving) this past season.

Now a two-time Pro Bowl selection, Conner spoke about what could be to come.

"With the opportunity they gave me and the relationships I've built (in Arizona), I would love to continue out there," he explained, according to Kevin Patra of the NFL's website. "But I'm a free agent, so I'm excited to see what's next. I'm a man of faith, so I know it will all work out for me."

With fellow Arizona running back Chase Edmonds also slated to hit free agency when the new league year opens next month, the Cardinals may have some difficult decisions to make over the next several weeks. Arizona won 11 games but fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs. Thus, the Cardinals have reasons to want to keep the band together for another run, but salary-cap issues could lead to either Conner or Edmonds getting paid elsewhere come March.
