Latest trade-back scenario has Ravens grabbing potential No. 1 WR

It’s no secret revamping the wide receiver room is at the top of the Baltimore Ravens offseason to-do list.

And NFL.com’s Chad Reuter believes he’s found a solution for the Ravens that not only lands them one of the top-graded wideouts in the 2023 draft class but also nets them extra draft capital in which they trade with the New York Giants, moving back from No. 22 to No. 25 and picking University of Tennessee WR Jalin Hyatt.

“For the third time in five years, the Ravens select a receiver in the first round,” Reuter said. “After trading Marquise Brown (No. 25 overall, 2019) during Thursday night's festivities last year, Baltimore could be looking for a speedster to play with 2021 first-rounder Rashod Bateman (No. 27). Hyatt possesses the pure speed to stretch defenses vertically.”

Hyatt had a breakout season in 2022, totaling 67 receptions, 1,267 yards and an FBS-leading 15 touchdown receptions. He ranked fifth in the NCAA in receiving yards and 13th with 18.9 yards per reception, he was a unanimous All-American, First Team All-SEC selection and he won the Biletnikoff Award as the top receiver in college football.

Baltimore’s receiving unit was one of the worst in the NFL last season, ranking 22nd in touchdown receptions (19), 28th in receptions (300) and 30th in yards per game (188.4). The Ravens return just one receiver from this season with 30 or more receptions — Devin Duvernay (49 targets, 37 receptions, 407 yards, three touchdowns).
