The Detroit Lions waited until the very last minute to make their decision on edge rusher James Houston. Seriously, the Lions started Houston's 21-day clock on December 28th and waited until the 21st day to make the decison on him. That decision is that the Lions will activate James Houston and add him the their 53-man roster ahead of Sundays' divisional round matchup.

To make the  move for Houston, the Lions had to waive a player. They chose Julian Okwara. He will head to the waiver wire and and if he's able to clear waivers, you have to believe that the Lions will be looking to bring him back on their practice squad.

Now, will Houston play this week? That's the big question. Houston was a full participant all week last week and the Lions still chose not to activate him just yet. Lions head coach Dan Campbell did say that he was getting better each week, they just weren't there with him yet. Will they be this week? It's only Wednesday, but Houston did show up as a full participant on the Lions estimated practice report and did get activated today. That feels like a good sign.

The other thing is that Houston told Detroit News' Nolan Bianchi that it was at least his plan to play this week. So we'll see wat happens on Friday when designations come out. Then we'll see on Sunday when inactives come out. If he has no designation on Friday, it's a very good sign that he will play his first game since Week 2 against the Seahawks.
