Lions fans donating to Deshaun Watson's charity after Matt Patricia firing

Let's face it, Matt Patricia should have never been head coach of the Detroit Lions in the first place. Before being relieved of his duties on Saturday, Patricia brought more frustration and chaos to a Lions organization that so desperately wanted to win a playoff game for the first time since 1992.

Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp revealed this weekend that Detroit's last two losses, which were blowouts to the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans, were the last straw for Patricia, who compiled a 13-29-1 record.

The 41-25 loss to the Texans on Thanksgiving was a solid outing for Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson, who is being showered with praise from Lions fans for playing a role in getting Patricia fired.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Lions fans now are donating to Watson's charity, the Deshaun Watson Foundation, which is dedicated to "education, health, housing and other charitable causes that support families and youth in underserved communities," according to its website.

Rapoport says the donations totaled $1,070 on Sunday morning and that Lions fans are donating in increments of $13 for Patricia's measly 13 wins as head coach.

The Lions also fired general manager Bob Quinn on Saturday.
