Lions' Jared Goff (oblique) says he's a 'game-day decision' to play vs. Bears

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff practiced Tuesday after he missed this past Sunday's loss to the Cleveland Browns that dropped his team to 0-9-1 with an oblique injury, and head coach Dan Campbell told reporters he's "leaning" toward starting his QB1 over backup Tim Boyle for the Thanksgiving afternoon home game against the 3-7 Chicago Bears.

As Myles Simmons noted for Pro Football Talk, though, Goff guaranteed nothing regarding his status for Thursday's matchup when speaking with the media during his press conference.

"We’ll see," Goff said about potentially playing versus Chicago. "I don’t know what [Campbell] has said, but I’d probably categorize it as a game-day decision. I feel good though, really good."

Campbell said earlier in the day he wanted to make sure Goff was "definitely ready to go" before making a final call, and the signal-caller admitted he "absolutely" wants to be in the lineup to help Detroit attempt to earn its first victory of what's become a disappointing season.

Boyle struggled in wet and cold conditions in Cleveland and completed 15-of-23 passes for 77 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions, but Goff hasn't lit scoreboards on fire during his first year with the Lions. He's passed for 2,109 yards with eight touchdowns and six interceptions, ranks 27th among eligible quarterbacks with an 84.0 passer rating and heads into Thursday 32nd with a 26.8 total QBR.

In short, there's little reason for Campbell to rush Goff back into action before the quarterback is fully recovered from his setback.
