Green Bay Packers running backs Aaron Jones (33) and A.J. Dillon (28) USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin

Matt LaFleur: Packers have RBs '1A and 1A' in Aaron Jones, A.J. Dillon

While the Green Bay Packers have some major holes on offense in 2022 — mainly trying to replace the production of arguably the best receiver in the league, Davante Adams — there is one facet of the offense that appears to be rock-solid heading into the regular season.

In a league that prioritizes the passing game, the Packers have one of the best one-two backfield punches around in running backs Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon.

Jones is a quick, shifty back who can put his foot in the ground and get upfield in a hurry. He's also talented enough to line up outside and be a receiver for Aaron Rodgers, and look out if he gets room in open space thanks to the screen game.

Dillon is still just as scary in open space, but it's more so because he's more likely to run over a defender than run around them at 6-foot, 247 pounds of seemingly pure muscle.

The Packers have a true thunder-and-lighting combination, and the duo project to be so good in 2022 that head coach Matt LaFleur can't find a better player between the two.

"They're two of the premier backs in our league, in my opinion," he told Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. "They can do anything."

Dillon led the Packers in rushing yardage last season despite technically "coming off the bench." He rushed 187 times for 803 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 4.3 yards per carry. He also caught two touchdowns as a receiver, for a total of seven scores.

Jones rushed 171 times for 799 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 4.7 yards per pop. He also added 52 catches for 391 yards and six touchdowns through the air.
