The Miami Dolphins were one of the fastest teams in the NFL last year.  Like, literally.  Between Tyreek Hill, De'Von Achane, and Raheem Mostert, Miami finished near the top of the league in top ballcarrier speed in 2023.  Miami's offense was also extremely potent, generating chunk plays in droves.

With so much speed at receiver and running back, it seems as though it might make sense for that to supplement that with players who bring other skills to the table.  Perhaps, but it appears that Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel aren't done looking in the speed department at running back.

The team is reportedly having a visit with Louisville running back Isaac Guerendo, per Aaron Wilson of KRPC channel 2 Houston.

Guerendo, as the tweet alludes to, is a burner.  He posted a 4.33 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine, tops among all running backs.  He also had an incredible 41.5-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot 9-inch broad jump.

However, there is something else that makes Guerendo an interesting option for teams: his return ability.  The new NFL rules will very likely result in a major spike in returns, as teams will now get to start from the 30-yard line on balls kicked into the end zone that result in a touchback.  With that and the new positions on the field where players line up, namely between the receiving team's 40 and 35-yard lines, a greater premium will be placed on return experience and ability.

Sure, the Dolphins have plenty of guys with the speed to pull that off, namely their aforementioned stars along with CB Ethan Bonner.  However, it never hurts to have another option.  Guerendo has 30 kickoff returns between his last two years at Wisconsin and Louisville.

Plans are often scrapped or change constantly on draft weekend, as players get snapped up and others fall in teams' laps.  However, it seems as though the Dolphins have a keen eye on someone who could help multiple aspects of their team.
