Micah Parsons makes recruiting pitch to division rival's corner

Although the Philadelphia Eagles have made it known they hope cornerback Darius Slay returns for the 2023-24 season, the team has decided to allow the 32-year-old defensive back to explore potential trade options.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons took to Twitter after this news surfaced, serving as public recruiter and advocating for Slay to consider joining Philly’s NFC East rival while noting that the standout corner would get plenty of help upfront if he did choose to jump ship.

While Slay recently stated on his 'Big Play Slay' podcast that he wanted to retire an Eagle, he did leave the door open to play elsewhere if need be.

“I do want to finish my career as an Eagle, but we’ll see,” he said. “We be looking forward to it, man. Got time here. But best believe, I do want to be an Eagle. But if my job requires me to go elsewhere, then I’ll go.”

This past season, Slay recorded 55 tackles, 14 passes defensed, nine forced incompletions and three interceptions while playing 713 coverage snaps. He allowed a completion percentage of just 56.6 and a passer rating of 82.4 while targeted.

Though Dallas has 24-year-old All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs, the Cowboys could certainly use a player of Slay’s caliber in their defensive backfield.

Diggs notwithstanding, the rest of Dallas’ cornerbacks room combined to surrender 1,907 yards and 14 touchdowns while allowing a completion percentage of 66.9 (160 receptions on 239 targets).
