Mike Tirico predicts how Bill Belichick would be as broadcaster

NBC Sports NFL play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico is among those in the sports media world who believe head coach Bill Belichick would excel as a broadcaster if he embraced a career change either temporarily or on a full-time basis.

"If he does decide to do TV…he’ll be really good," Tirico said about Belichick during an appearance on the ESPN Chicago "Waddle and Silvy" program, per the Barrett Sports Media website.

Whispers about Belichick possibly serving as an NFL studio or in-game analyst hovered over his status throughout the 2023 campaign before the Atlanta Falcons hired Raheem Morris as their head coach and seemingly left the 71-year-old without a coaching gig to land this offseason. Similar to legendary play-by-play announcer Al Michaels, Tirico praised Belichick's work for the NFL Network "NFL 100 All-Time Team" series.

"Super Bowl XL aired on ABC, I was at ESPN and we did the pregame show for the ABC broadcast," Tirico added about Belichick. "Bill was on the set with me for the game…and he was terrific on the air."

According to Dakota Randall of NESN, NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network said during a Friday morning on-air segment that he believes Belichick ultimately will spend a year off the sidelines and become "the hottest coaching candidate in 2025." As for where Belichick could work this fall, Andrew Marchand of the New York Post previously reported that CBS could have several openings for its "The NFL Today" program following that network's coverage of Super Bowl LVIII.

"If he ends up not getting a job and does TV for a year or more, he will be awesome," Tirico insisted during his comments about Belichick. "He will be the guy who everyone shuts up and listens to. I promise you."

It's unclear if Belichick has any interest in working as even a part-time analyst, as some think he could be waiting for the Kansas City Chiefs to have a coaching vacancy as soon as next month.
