Mike Tomlin expects 'much more' from this player in 2023

Mike Tomlin has never been shy in sharing his expectations for players, and he believes the best is yet to come for one of the Steelers who just re-signed.

Tomlin told reporters he doesn't think we got to see the best of DT Larry Ogunjobi in 2022 and expects much more from the six-year veteran.

Pittsburgh brought back Ogunjobi on a three-year, $28.75 million deal two weeks ago. It's a larger contract than some were expecting but it supports Tomlin's belief that we'll see the 2021 version of Ogunjobi when he had seven sacks compared to last season when he had just 1.5 sacks.

The biggest concern surrounding Ogunjobi has been his health. He was supposed to sign a three-year contract with the Bears last offseason but failed his physical coming off foot surgery.

If Ogunjobi is 100 percent healthy now with a full offseason ahead, he may just put together the best season of his career in 2023, especially with all the pieces the Steelers have on defense like a fully healthy T.J. Watt.

Some may not be sold on him quite yet, but at 28 years old, Ogunjobi can still make some noise in Pittsburgh and prove the Steelers right for giving him the multiyear deal he was looking for a year ago.
