Edmunds is the second safety general manager Howie Roseman signed this week, with Justin Evans signing a one-year deal on Tuesday. Once a first-round pick of the Steelers in 2018, Edmunds started 75 games during his career in Pittsburgh, accumulating 410 tackles, five interceptions, 26 pass breakups and five sacks.
The secondary has been a point of emphasis for the Eagles this offseason.
Among the multiple starters that Philadelphia lost this offseason, both starting safeties left in free agency. Marcus Epps accepted a two-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, while C.J. Gardner-Johnson signed with the Detroit Lions for one year. Along with Evans and Edmunds, the team also signed cornerback Greedy Williams to his own one-year contract. In addition, they were able to retain both starting cornerbacks, Darius Slay and James Bradberry.
The safety group is now composed of Edmunds, Evans, Reed Blankenship, who started four games as a rookie in 2022, and K'Von Wallace, a former fourth-round pick of the team in 2020.
According to Spotrac, the Eagles currently have about $13.7 million in cap space left over.
