Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky‘s contract with the Buffalo Bills will be over once the 2022 NFL league year starts on March 16 at 4 p.m. ET.

It’s impossible to see him remain in Buffalo because Josh Allen is their undisputed starter.

Besides, he is more than a backup because he had a 29-21 record in four seasons with the Chicago Bears.

Sadly, he wasn’t able to lead the team to a playoff victory in two tries.

That narrative made him public enemy number one in The Windy City that the team drafted Justin Fields to move on from him.

However, the Bears Nation blog pointed out how Trubisky’s story changed for the better after a season of staying on the sidelines.

It’s like he had a wrestling turn from heel to babyface.

Bears Nation said, “2020: NFL trashes the #Bears and QB Mitchell Trubisky. 2022: NFL teams praise possibility of their teams signing Mitchell Trubisky.”

It’s easy to forget that the former UNC Tar Heel had an 11-win season with the Bears.

However, he fizzled towards the end, costing him his job and Matt Nagy’s position as head coach.

But a year removed from the spotlight helped improved his image even if he barely played for the Bills.

During the recently-concluded NFL Scouting Combine, teams seemed to spend more time discussing him instead of the quarterback prospects in the 2022 draft.

If that’s the case, he would have another opportunity to showcase his talents for another team.

However, the franchise that will sign him should be clear on how he figures on their long-term plans.

Is Trubisky A Franchise Quarterback?

If he can’t win a playoff game, it’s hard to see him being the top option for a long time.

Therefore, he’s more of a bridge quarterback until a better player comes along.

Without question, he is capable of winning more games.

However, it’s hard to see him being the guy that will carry a team over the hump.

The team that will get him remains competitive with him under center.

That’s a better situation than losing more games and antagonizing their fanbase.
