The Green Bay Packers have been busy this offseason revamping their secondary, with the addition of Xavier McKinney, a top-tier safety in free agency, and the potential to further solidify their defensive backfield in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Under the guidance of new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, who emphasizes strong coverage skills as a cornerstone of his defensive strategy, the Packers are keen on bolstering their strong safety position alongside McKinney, aiming for a younger and more aggressive pairing.

According to ESPN’s Jordan Reid and his latest mock draft, which aligns each team with the most suitable prospects, the Packers are projected to select Utah safety Cole Bishop with the 58th overall pick in the second round.

“The Packers had inconsistent safety play last season. Leading them to sign Xavier McKinney this offseason. Let’s keep adding there. Bishop is a versatile player who can make plays in coverage or get home as a blitzer, tallying 59 tackles, two picks and three sacks in 2023.”

Bishop’s style of play could seamlessly complement McKinney’s, as he excels in physicality near the line of scrimmage, making impactful plays against the run and pressuring quarterbacks on blitzes.

Last season alone, Bishop tallied 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, along with 60 total tackles, two interceptions, and four pass breakups in 11 games.

With his versatility as a key asset, Bishop is positioned as a prime candidate on the Packers’ draft board leading up to the big weekend.

Standing at an imposing 6-foot-2 and weighing 205 pounds, Bishop brings a formidable presence to the defensive backfield. His impressive collegiate career at Utah showcased his knack for finding the football, accumulating 197 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, 21.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, 12 pass breakups, four fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble across three seasons.
