Jalen Hurts is receiving a lot of criticism even after the 2023-24 season is over. Former NFL quarterback Chris Simms in an interview went full bonkers to criticize the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback. He claimed that Hurts was one of the most overrated quarterbacks in the league.

I respect a lot about Jalen Hurts, but I think Jalen Hurts is also like the most overrated player in football. That’s me, I know I’m wrong, I take a lot of crap about that comment. But he plays quarterback for a team that’s an all-star team, they have the best O-line in football, it’s not even close. I just think if you put some other quarterback in Philly, you put Kyler Murray in there, you’d say ‘Damn, Kyler’s amazing. Is he the MVP of football . The 2023-24 season did not go as planned for the Eagles QB. Inconsistency played a huge role throughout the season. He started the season well and continued the rhythm till the 10th game of the league.

After the 10th game, the Eagles stood at 9-1 when all the problems started popping up. They started losing game after game and Hurts failed to change the situation. Though, his tush push attracted appreciation, his passing abilities were under scrutiny by the analysts. Multiple people pointed fingers at his passing abilities.

The Eagles also did not have a great postseason run. Simms’ former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, finished the journey of the Eagles with a demolishing victory in the weekend wild-card round and achieved a place in the divisional round. The Eagles team and Jalen Hurts faced much criticism after the playoff defeat against the underdog Bucs.

Simms had earlier took shot at Jalen Hurts for the Tush Push

This is not the first time Chris Simms targeted Jalen Hurts. The former Bucs man had spoken against the quarterback’s famous Tush Push after it gathered momentum. Tush Push is a play where a teammate needs to push the quarterback to garner more steam.

In the 2022-23 season, which is considered the best season for the quarterback, Jalen Hurts rose to a different level with the rapid use of his Tush Push. His completion number, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns became a serious concern for the opponent teams.

Nevertheless, Simms at that time suggested the opponent players to become more aggressive to stop Jalen Hurts. He asked the defenders to push Hurts more offensively.

In the next season, Hurts will have a real test to prove Simms’ criticism wrong. It is to be seen how he reacts after a bad season in the coming time.
