New Bears QB Nick Foles' contract details revealed after trade from Jaguars

Nick Foles finally is a Chicago Bear, and his contract details have officially been released, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Foles will earn a base salary of $8 million per year, getting $24 million over three years with $21 million guaranteed.

The Jacksonville Jaguars traded Foles in a decision to fully commit to second-year quarterback Gardner Minshew for the foreseeable future after he went 6-6 in 2019.

Foles, a Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles, will likely take over the reins of the Bears offense, demoting Mitch Trubisky to a backup role.

The 31-year-old is 26-22 in his eight-year career with a 61.9 completion percentage, 11,901 yards, 71 touchdowns and 35 interceptions.

Of course, Foles' best year came in 2017 when he took over for an injured Carson Wentz to help the Eagles defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, and he hasn't been awful over the last two years with a 4-5 record. He arguably was only bad in 2019 because he was playing with a miserable Jacksonville Jaguars team that went 6-10 in the AFC South.

With the Bears, Foles could find more success surrounded by David Montgomery, Allen Robinson and many more.
