Bears WR Allen Robinson helping feed Chicago-area children amid COVID-19 pandemic

Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson wishes he could train for the 2020 season right now, but with the coronavirus pandemic putting NFL workouts on hold, Allen decided to use his time to do good.

Through his Within Reach Foundation, Robinson is helping out the Greater Chicago Food Depository to feed Chicago-area kids who are out of school due to COVID-19. In the past, Robinson's foundation has focused on education but now has shifted to meal-based donations as the need for food increases.

“This is a vital part of kids’ lives in addition to education — being able to put food in their mouths and their families’ mouths,” Robinson said, according to Jason Lieser of The Chicago Sun Times. “We’re not doing this just for notoriety. We just wanted to streamline it and bring everyone together to make an impact.”

Robinson's goal was to raise $12,000 and match that donation. Bears head coach Matt Nagy matched the amount, and offensive tackle Charles Leno donated $7,200 as well. Robinson said he'll now increase his goal and the amount he'll match very soon.
