This draft is one of the most important in franchise history for the New England Patriots. So with the No. 3 overall pick, they aren't taking this decision lightly.

And while anything can happen, at this moment, it seems pretty clear what the Patriots need in the first round of the draft.

A quarterback!!

While they also are in need of a solid left tackle and some additional receivers on offense, everything starts with the person that is responsible for throwing the ball. And with three qualified quarterbacks on the board once the draft starts, it is something they shouldn't pass up on. Especially considering one of them will definetely be there when the Patriots are on the board.

With a high second round pick along with possible trades throughout the weekend, the Patriots can get some receivers and even a possible tackle later on. While it might not be one that is high on everyone's draft board, that can be better.

Less expectations and so much more to prove to earn a spot can be a recipe for success and lead to the Patriots drafting a diamond in the rough. But with the talent in the quarterback class this year, passing up on either Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye would be a big mistake.

There is no doubt that Caleb Williams will be drafted by the Chicago Bears with the first overall pick. And the Washington Commanders are expected to take a quarterback as well, with reports indicating that they may be leaning more towards Jayden Daniels. So that leaves Drake Maye for the Patriots.

And that's a move that fans should and will be very happy about.

So for the Patriots first-round wish list, there should only be one thing on it.
