The New York Jets sign a linebacker

The New York Jets are reportedly close to trading for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The four-time MVP will come at a heavy price for the Jets. The team recently cleared some cap space ahead of potential trade and free agency. The team went ahead and kept a solid contributor for the defense.

According to Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, the Jets extended linebacker Quincy Williams to a three-year deal for $18 million. He can earn another $3 million in incentives.

The former Jacksonville Jaguars third-round pick has been a solid contributor to the Jets’ defense the previous two seasons. Williams has recorded five sacks and 216 tackles in his two seasons in New York.

Quincy’s brother Quinnen Williams is a defensive tackle for the Jets. However, Quinnen could be leaving for a new team soon in free agency if the two parties can’t reach a long-term agreement.
