Ahead of the 2024 NFL draft, Commissioner Roger Goodell commented on potential discipline for Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice  stemming from his involvement in a six-vehicle crash in Dallas

Goodell spoke to ESPN's Mike Greenberg for an interview on the network ahead of the draft's first round. His comments were about what you'd expect from the league at this point in the process.

“First, we allow the legal process to move through,” Goodell said. “We obviously are following it closely and as soon as they are done with the process we will be engaged and be prepared to look at all of that under our personal conduct policy.”

The expectation around the league is that Rice will receive a multi-game suspension at some point during the 2024 NFL season. The timing and length of that suspension remains to be seen. According to Goodell, punishment won't be assessed until the criminal portion of the legal process has concluded, which could take some time. That doesn't include the two civil suits that Rice faces in connection to the crash.

The second-year wide receiver is expected to play a big role for the Chiefs in 2024. He recorded 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie in 2023 as the main complement to star tight end Travis Kelce.
