With just one game left in a lost 5-11 NFL season, there's exactly one major upside facing your Los Angeles Chargers: they'll have a top-ten draft pick this spring.

Following this weekend's slate of games, the Chargers are currently projected to possess the No. 6 pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Trevor Sikkema of PFF believes that the Chargers need to prioritize surrounding Pro Bowl quarterback with another high-level wide receiver, just one year after selecting Quentin Johnston with the No. 21 pick in 2023 out of. Sikkema votes in favor of picking LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers.

"The Chargers just drafted a first-round receiver in Quentin Johnston last offseason, but he has struggled mightily to show he could have the caliber of a WR1 for that team," Sikkema writes. "I don’t think his presence keeps the Chargers from getting a talent like Nabers, especially with a new regime that didn't draft Johnston coming in."

Nabers, a six-foot, 200-pound junior out of Youngsville, Louisiana, recorded 89 receptions for a total of 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns while with the 10-3 Tigers this year.

Johnston emerged as the No. 1 wide receiver on LA's depth chart over the last two weeks, with both Keenan Allen and Joshua Palmer on injured reserve and Mike Williams (ACL surgery) inactive since Week 3. Johnston couldn't get anything cooking on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, and has been fairly erratic during his rookie season, even while fighting through less-harsh coverage.
