NFL futures: Two Comeback Player of the Year hopefuls to keep an eye on

When it comes to the betting odds for who will win NFL Comeback Player of the Year, not a lot has changed.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is still the heavy favorite to snag the end-of-season honors, while Aaron Rodgers is still lingering as a 20-1 longshot since there is still a chance he could return to the gridiron this season.

While the spotlight has stayed on these same players, there are a couple of others whose odds have slowly but surely shortened in recent weeks. Could one of these picks have a real shot at winning Comeback Player of the Year? Here are two hopefuls to keep an eye on.

Thanks to the Denver Broncos' unexpected five-game winning streak, Russell Wilson is now listed at DraftKings at 10-1 to win Comeback Player of the Year. The veteran QB was previously listed  as a 25-1 long shot at major sportsbooks, but his stock has been on the rise since his TD-INT ratio was 8-0 over that winning streak. The Broncos are coming off of a disappointing loss to the Houston Texans but can get back into the win column in Week 14 when they visit AFC West rivals the Los Angeles Chargers, so Wilson's comeback campaign is far from over.

Another player priced at 20-1 at DK to win Comeback Player of the Year? Lamar Jackson. The former league MVP has exploded in 2023, so maybe he isn't much of a sleeper pick here. But his odds are worth keeping an eye on nonetheless since he is the main reason the Baltimore Ravens are 9-3 on the season and 4-1-0 over their last five. Baltimore's schedule gets tough with big games against the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins coming up around the holidays, and Jackson's odds of winning Comeback Player of the Year could hinge on how he plays in those games.

Could another candidate at longer odds creep into the conversation? With five weeks left in the regular season, there is plenty of time for another player to enter the Comeback Player of the Year conversation. Stay tuned.
