The Cincinnati Bengals snapped a three-decade playoff win drought this postseason.

The drought itself was a shock because the franchise went to the Super Bowl during the 1981 and 1988 seasons.

Things were supposed to be looking up, only for the Bengals to sit and wait decades for Joe Burrow‘s arrival.

The young quarterback now faces the tough task of taking down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Yet one historical NFL stat is a great sign for Bengals fans.

The team has never failed to reach the Super Bowl once they get to the AFC Championship Game.

Yes, it is a two-game sample size.

But any positive trend is good as the team tries to pull off the upset this weekend.

Trying To Stick With The Stat

The Bengals are joined by the New York Giants, who are a perfect 5-0 when reaching the Conference Championship Game.

A fun note is added as well about the Houston Texans.

They too are undefeated, yet that is because they have failed to reach the AFC Championship Game in two decades of existence.

There is no reason to believe the Bengals are incapable of taking down the Chiefs.

Burrow and company went on the road and beat the top-seeded Tennessee Titans last weekend.

Another road game is not going to be too big for the young signal-caller.

Cincinnati has also already beaten Kansas City once this season, just a few weeks ago in Week 17 of the regular season.

Burrow threw for 446 yards and four touchdowns, while Ja’Marr Chase finished with 266 yards and three scores.

It was a true shootout and such a game is the expectation again this weekend.

History is on the Bengals’ side.

The only thing that may end this trend is the growing legend of Mahomes.
