The Baltimore Ravens are widely expected to bolster their depth at the running back position in the offseason.
The Ravens have a mere two running backs who are under contract for the 2024 campaign. Justice Hill will play the upcoming season on the final year of the two-year deal that he signed with Baltimore in March 2023, while Keaton Mitchell is under team control for three more seasons.
The Ravens have been doing their homework on multiple running backs who will hit free agency in March.
ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler noted during a recent appearance on PressBox’s "Glenn Clark Radio" show that Baltimore has been doing its "legwork on a lot of the top guys." He said that if the "running back market gets to $10 million or more," then the Ravens will "probably not be involved."
Fowler added that Baltimore could potentially look into signing New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley or Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Pollard. Barkley and Pollard each will be out of a contract next month, and Spotrac projects an annual average salary deal of under $10 million for the two.
Fowler did note that he has a "hard time" seeing any running back putting pen to paper on a contract worth more than $10 million a year in free agency, which sure would play in Baltimore’s favor.
Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta is set to have a fair share of options to soon revamp his team’s running backs group.
