The San Francisco 49ers won't have one of their offensive linemen for the start of the 2025 season.

The NFL announced on Wednesday that 49ers' offensive lineman Isaac Alarco will miss the first six games of the 2025 season due to a violation of the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy.

He has been with the 49ers since last year and was on their practice squad before signing a futures deal to stay with the team. He started his career with the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 but has yet to appear in a regular-season game.

Once he serves his six-game suspension, he will be allowed to return to game action. He can still participate in offseason practice and preseason games, but won't be eligible to play in regular-season games.

The 49ers had a tough season in 2024, winning only six games. They also dealt with a lot of injuries, including to wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. They are hoping that an offseason full of changes will help get them back to the playoffs and competing for Super Bowls, since they were a bit older last season.

They will have the No. 11 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and may take a pass rusher with that pick since Nick Bosa could use some help along the defensive line.

The 2025 season will be Kyle Shanahan's ninth season as head coach. He has led the 49ers to two Super Bowl berths and has compiled a 70-62 regular-season record and an 8-4 playoff record.

The 2025 NFL Draft will start next Thursday, April 24, and go through next Saturday, April 26.
