NFL Week 15: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Indianapolis Colts betting picks, preview

We have a pair of 7-6 AFC teams fighting it out on Saturday afternoon in a massive game for playoff chances when the Pittsburgh Steelers visit the Indianapolis Colts. There's betting value against the spread in this one.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Indianapolis Colts: Betting Odds

Spread: Indianapolis -1.5, Over/under: 42.5 points, Pittsburgh +110 | Indianapolis -130

Last time we saw the Steelers, they were being carved up by Bailey Zappe en route to a tough loss to the New England Patriots on Thursday. Pittsburgh is now 7-6 on the season and will once again be trotting out QB Mitch Trubisky in place of the injured Kenny Pickett.

The Steelers still have a strong defense and have playmakers throughout on offense, but Trubisky caps their abilities a tad here.

On the other side is an Indianapolis Colts team out-performing expectations at 7-6 with Gardner Minshew at quarterback. The Colts did just get blown out by the Cincinnati Bengals and Jake Browning, and a big reason why was the run defense, which is graduating into one of the worst units in football. The Colts are now allowing the fifth-most yards per game to RBs, and DVOA grades their run defense as the seventh-worst in football.

Pittsburgh is 7-6 ATS, while Indianapolis is 8-5, one of the best betting records in the NFL. The Colts are 9-4 to the over, tops in the NFL, and the Steelers are 10-3 to the under. That'll be the largest disparity of the weekend in terms of records towards the total this season.

Betting Picks for Pittsburgh vs. Indianapolis

Steelers +1.5

This spread has moved down a whole point in favor of the Pittsburgh Steelers, confirming our initial read of the situation. The Steelers, and Mike Tomlin, are just that type of betting team that folds when they should clearly win and picks up a victory when the public begins to sleep on them again.

Here we have a game with their backup QB after an ugly loss and with a rest advantage against an Indianapolis Colts team off a bad loss with playoffs on the mind.

The Colts cannot stop the run at all right now, and that plays right into Pittsburgh's biggest strength with Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren splitting rushing duties. Expect a heavy dosage of Steelers backs on Saturday, and that should power a winning formula, or at least an extremely tight game. Take the points or just opt for the +110 moneyline.
