New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was not having a good go at it early on Sunday . Enter into the equation backup Jameis Winston, who replaced Brees under center in the second quarter.
It was only for one play against Winston’s former Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad in the NFC Divisional Playoffs. However, that one play was an absolute dandy.
Taking to the field at their own 44-yard line, Winston lined up at wide receiver with running back Alvin Kamara at quarterback in a wildcat formation. The rest is pretty much history.
Yes, that’s a trick play with Kamara handing the ball off to Emmanuel Sanders before the latter handed it to Winston. The quarterback then threw a strike to a wide open Tre’Quan Smith for 56 yards and the go-ahead touchdown.
For Jameis Winston, this has to be some sweet revenge. The former No. 1 pick was jettisoned from Tampa Bay after five seasons this past spring in order for the Buccaneers to sign Tom Brady. It came after Winston threw 33 touchdowns against 30 interceptions in his final season with the Buccaneers.

The brilliant play call from Payton notwithstanding, Winston was the talk of the social media world after throwing that go-ahead touchdown. Some of the focus was on him exacting revenge.
Others openly wondered why Brees was still in the game over Winston in what could be the future Hall of Fame quarterback’s final NFL game. Yeah, there were a ton of reactions.
