NFLPA 'pushing aggressively' for game postponements due to COVID breakout, per report

An outbreak of COVID-19 has affected more than 125 NFL players since Monday and three teams -- the Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns, and Washington Football Team -- have placed more than 20 players each on the COVID/Reserve list heading into Week 15.

Concerns about players safety, among other issues, have the NFLPA "pushing aggressively for a postponement" of the Browns' Saturday game against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to Pro Football Talk. The report even says there has been talk among union members of the entire league being "shut down" for a week.

The NFL has given little indication that it's open to any changes being made to the schedule, though. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, "many more positive" tests would need to happen for the league to change its mind about moving forward with the game Saturday.

Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to blast the NFL for COVID protocols that he says make no sense. "Actually caring about player safety would mean delaying the game with this continuing at the rate it is," Mayfield wrote.

Wide receiver Jarvis Landry echoed his quarterback's concerns, writing on Twitter that the game should be postponed.

Cleveland is currently just on the outside of the AFC playoff picture, while Washington and Los Angeles sit in two of the three NFC Wild Card berths.
