NFLPA votes to play no preseason games ahead of 2020 season

We might not be watching any NFL preseason games in 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The NFLPA voted on a conference call this week in favor of not playing any preseason games ahead of the 2020 season, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo:

The vote came as a result of a discussion within union leadership on whether it would be smart to play any preseason games. The league and union are on two opposite sides of the spectrum at the moment regarding the preseason, according to Garafolo.

While the NFLPA would like more preparation time for the year ahead and no preseason games, the league's desire is to cut down the number of games from four to two in order to create a longer ramp-up period for players.

Training camps are set to open up this month, and the NFLPA laid out a four-stage plan of various protocols for a preparation period that would replace the preseason.

The 2020 regular season is on schedule to start Sept. 10 with the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Tennessee Titans.
