Odell Beckham Jr. joins Rams amid more drama

Whether he meant for it to happen or not, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. ended his free-agency stint following his release from the Cleveland Browns with some added drama.

As Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk explained, the Los Angeles Rams came somewhat out of nowhere Thursday afternoon to announce they signed Beckham. Somebody jumped the gun a tad early, however, as the three-time Pro Bowl selection hadn't yet chosen the Rams over the Green Bay Packers at the time that post went viral.

Good things come to those who wait, however, as the Rams were able to confirm the acquisition soon after this miscue.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports Beckham signed a one-year deal.

Everybody from respected journalists to outside observers was wrong with predictions, as Beckham was heavily linked with the Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints as recently as Thursday afternoon before the Rams' announcement. The Rams released veteran receiver DeSean Jackson just last week, mainly because Jackson wasn't a significant part of their offense.

Beckham departed the Browns after recording only 17 catches for 232 yards and no touchdowns this season. He was a displeased individual over his lack of looks from quarterback Baker Mayfield. He now joins a 7-2 Rams side that has Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, Van Jefferson and Tyler Higbee among reliable targets for signal-caller Matthew Stafford.

This shouldn't be a problem, though, if OBJ is serious about putting winning ahead of individual stats.
