Odell Beckham Jr. to wait 'a few days' before making free-agency decision?
Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who officially parted ways with the Cleveland Browns earlier this week and subsequently cleared waivers, isn't yet ready to pick his next team.
That doesn't mean clubs aren't interested.
According to NFL Network's Kim Jones and Ian Rapoport, Beckham isn't rushing his decision and could still take "a few more days" to put pen to paper with a new employer:
Rapoport noted during an on-air segment that the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints have all expressed interest in signing the three-time Pro Bowl selection who last made such a squad back in 2016. The Saints reportedly discussed acquiring Beckham directly from the Browns before the Nov. 2 trade deadline, but it's believed the sides were never all that close to an agreement.
Beckham was also previously linked with the San Francisco 49ers, but it's unknown if either party is currently interested in signing even a short-term deal.
However, Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk suggested Beckham may not be receiving the type of offers he assumed would come soon after being "freed" by Cleveland:
Earlier on Wednesday, Packers All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams admitted he's spoken with the 29-year-old about making Lambeau Field his home even temporarily.
"Hopes are up there pretty high," Adams said of Beckham signing with Green Bay. "Been talking to him a little bit. So, we'll see what happens."
Meanwhile, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said Wednesday his team isn't pursuing Beckham.
"No. We've already got AB, we don't need OBJ. Too many letters," Arians said in a reference to Tampa Bay receiver Antonio Brown.
Beckham missed the campaign's first two weeks as he finished his recovery from the torn ACL he suffered in October 2020 and then recorded only 17 catches for 232 yards with no touchdowns this fall until Cleveland released him.
