Bruce Arians on Odell Beckham Jr.: 'We've already got AB, we don't need OBJ'

As was expected, big-name wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. officially cleared waivers Tuesday after he and the Cleveland Browns agreed to part ways. Beckham has been linked with the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers in reports before Wednesday updates added the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots to his list of potential future destinations.

One championship contender apparently won't pursue the three-time Pro Bowl selection.

Per Kevin Patra of the NFL's website, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians was asked about the possibility of adding Beckham to a passing attack that includes Antonio Brown among other home-run hitters.

"No. We've already got AB, we don't need OBJ. Too many letters," Arians remarked.

The harsh truth of the matter is that Beckham would likely struggle for passes and touches, as he did in Cleveland, competing with Tampa Bay targets such as Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski (when healthy) and, of course, the previously mentioned AB.

Beckham joining Tom Brady with the Bucs seemed a possibility coming off Super Bowl LV, but Arians' comments suggest OBJ will have to look elsewhere for a new football home.

As for Brady, he still leads the NFL with 25 touchdown passes and is second in passing yards (2,650) and total QBR (68.9), according to ESPN stats, even after Tampa Bay's bye.
