Omaha Productions says Chad Powers 'ready to answer the call' for QB-needy Giants
It's been over two weeks since New York Giants legend Eli Manning went undercover as "Chad Powers," a 26-year-old walk-on who "tried out" for the Penn State football team. Since then, the Nittany Lions have begun selling "Chad Powers" merchandise and the fictional, mustached signal-caller has gained quite a following.
Over in the NFL, the Giants are currently dealing with a very real quarterback problem, with both starter Daniel Jones (ankle) and backup Tyrod Taylor (concussion) dealing with injuries. Enter Chad Powers?
Schefter reported Tuesday afternoon that the team is working out multiple quarterbacks, including Jake Fromm, who played three games -- making two starts -- with the squad in 2021. In Fromm's trio of contests last year, he went 27-for-60 with 210 passing yards, one touchdown and three interceptions, adding eight rushing attempts for 65 yards.
If the Giants were to give Powers a shot, he'd have to "learn the playbook" rather quickly. New York will play the Green Bay Packers at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday in Week 5's "London Game."
