Packers' Aaron Rodgers (toe) to start vs. Rams; may not practice beforehand

Just as he said he would, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers started for what became Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Minnesota Vikings that dropped the Packers to 8-3 despite what he later called a "very, very painful" lingering toe injury he first picked up at some point before the win over the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 14.

The Packers lost Pro Bowl offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL he suffered in Minnesota, but head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters Monday Rodgers is on track to be in the lineup for this coming Sunday's contest against the 7-3 Los Angeles Rams ahead of Green Bay's bye.

Per Nick Shook of the NFL's website, LaFleur added Rodgers is set to be limited if he participates in practices at all this week. The reigning NFL Most Valuable Player completed 23-of-33 passes for 385 yards and four touchdowns in the loss to Minnesota but, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN, admitted after the defeat he'll be battling discomfort through at least the Rams game.

"I'm just going to have to get to the bye and hope I can get some healing over the bye week," Rodgers explained at that time. "Probably the same schedule next week. Was in a lot of pain. Went in at halftime early to get it checked out. It's very, very painful. Got stepped on the first half, and that kind of activated all the symptoms I was having. It's going to be another painful week and next week, and then hopefully start to feel a little better on the bye."
