Aaron Rodgers injury has to be concerning for the Packers

Fresh off Green Bay's shutout win over the Seattle Seahawks, the expectation was that Aaron Rodgers and the Packers would take care of business Sunday.

Boasting an 8-2 record heading into Week 11’s outing against the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay has had a good season.

Unfortunately for the Packers, that came to a halt Sunday with Minnesota pulling out a late-game victory and saving its season in the process.

As for Aaron Rodgers, he completed 23-of-33 passes for 385 yards with four touchdowns against zero interceptions. It was another brilliant performance from the reigning NFL MVP.

After the game, Rodgers seemed to break some news by indicating that he’s dealing with a toe injury that was extremely painful during the loss. The future Hall of Famer said it was “a little worse ” than turf toe while expanding on what he expects as the season progresses.

“Gonna have to get to the bye and hope I can get some some healing over the bye week,” Rodgers said, via ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Technically, turf toe could sideline a player for multiple weeks depending on its severity. Saying that this is worse than that is not great news.

How might Rodgers' injury affect the Packers?

Current starting left tackle Elgton Jenkins went down with what’s being feared as a torn ACL during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game. The 2020 Pro Bowler had held down the blindside spot with All-Pro David Bakhtiari sidelined.

That’s a major backdrop here as Green Bay attempts to navigate through next Sunday’s outing against the Los Angeles Rams ahead of a Week 13 bye.

Going up against the likes of Aaron Donald and Von Miller without Rodgers at 100% and missing Jenkins is not an ideal scenario for Green Bay. There also has to be some concern that the quarterback could suffer a more serious toe injury ahead of the bye.

By virtue of Sunday’s loss, the Packers find themselves at 8-3 on the season and in a battle for a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. Any prolonged injury for Rodgers would hinder this team big-time, especially considering the fact that 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love has proven he’s nowhere near ready to play regular-season football.
