There’s a reason why the Aaron Rodgers trade talks between the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets were the talk of the NFL for over a month.

Rodgers’ arm has the power to sway a borderline playoff team into a Super Bowl contender.  That fact was reflected by Vegas oddsmakers not long after reports that the Jets and Packers agreed to a trade deal.

While the Jets are putting all their chips on Rodgers to hit the Super Bowl jackpot in the next two years, the Packers are hoping that Jordan Love will pan out to be a franchise quarterback. The Packers are heading for a rebuild, and the Rodgers trade has assured Green Bay that no hero is coming to save them in 2023.

The Jets showed flashes of competence last season. But struggles at quarterback and injuries to running back Breece Hall dampened the Jets’ playoff chances in a talented AFC East division. The division won’t be easier this season, but Rodgers and several upgrades on offense should have the Jets in the playoffs. According to Bet MGM, the Jets were +2500 odds to win the Super Bowl before acquiring Rodgers. They’re now +1400. The Jets have the second-best odds to win the AFC East, behind the Buffalo Bills.

The Packers also came into the offseason with +2500 odds to win the Super Bowl. However, with Rodgers on his way out, the Packers have been stingy in free agency and appear to want to rebuild through the draft. Love will face an uphill battle as the starter this season. According to Bet MGM, the Packers now have +5000 odds to win the Super Bowl. They have +450 odds to win the NFC North, the worst in the division.
