Kurt Benkert reveals his thoughts on the Aaron Rodgers trade
Former Packers QB Kurt Benkert Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Anytime something happens with the Packers, fans love to know what Kurt Benkert thinks about it. The fan-favorite former player is often well-spoken and provides good insight. The Aaron Rodgers trade finally happened yesterday and this is the biggest storyline for the Packers this offseason. Kurt Benkert revealed his thoughts on the situation on social media.

Kurt Benkert On The Aaron Rodgers Trade

Benkert will be quietly cheering for two teams next year and a lot of Packers fans will as well. While it was time to move on, most fans are very thankful for what Rodgers did for the organization. Anytime a player wins a Super Bowl, you have to be somewhat grateful. He wishes Rodgers well and hopes that he can find success with the Jets. The Packers do not play the Jets next season so we can continue to watch Rodgers torch teams from behind center.

One Incentive To Cheer For Losses

There is one problem with cheering for wins. The Packers get a better draft pick if the Jets lose. Regardless of whether the pick is a first or second-rounder, the pick will be higher if the Jets lose. While I want to see Rodgers be successful, I also would love it if the Packers somehow got a top-15 pick next year because the Jets struggled. Both the Seahawks and the Lions are beneficiaries of quarterback trades that netted them high picks and the Packers could be in a similar position next season. Ultimately, I can be happy either way. If they win, we get to watch Rodgers be an MVP quarterback. If not, the Packers get a higher draft pick.

Kurt Benkert will always be a Green Bay treasure. His thoughts on the trade as most likely what a lot of Packers fans are feeling today. It is a new era in Green Bay and I for one am excited.
