Packers reportedly make contract offer to Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers have reportedly made a significant contract offer to Aaron Rodgers as the veteran quarterback fields interest from multiple teams and mulls over his future, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported early Monday morning.

While the exact terms of the deal have not been revealed, Fowler reports a three or four-year contract would help get Green Bay under the salary cap, which they are currently sitting more than $27 million over. It would also give the 38-year-old signal-caller some job security without being traded to a new team.

Although Adam Schefter reported last week that the Packers had not engaged in any trade talks, other teams have been rumored to be interested in the back-to-back reigning MVP.

It is believed Rodgers will make his final decision whether to keep playing or to retire in the near future, likely by Tuesday's franchise tender deadline. The Packers still have to decide whether to use the franchise tag on Davante Adams, who Rodgers has hinted he would try to take with him in a trade to another team. It's also believed Green Bay would use the franchise tag on the star wide receiver in part to keep Rodgers playing there.
