Kicking off their 2024 Draft the Green Bay Packers selected Jordan Morgan with the 25th overall pick in the 1st round.

In a record-tying 1st round with 6 quarterback taken, the Packers had a bevy of defensive talent fall to them at pick 25. While Packers Nation had visions of Cooper DeJean dancing in their heads, the Packers instead choose to bolster their offensive line with Morgan.

Analysis:

Considered a tackle by some teams and a guard by others, Morgan displays range and aggression in the run game and gets on top of rushers quickly in his jump sets when he uses well-timed hands.

At 6’5″ 311 pounds, Morgan is a 5th year senior for Arizona where he developed a reputation as a hard worker in the weight room (added 60 points since enrolling at Arizona). His main strengths are his natural knee-bend and balance in his pass sets. He is considered to have great feet, body control and fast eyes to comfortably pass off and pick up
rushers. Jordan is a well-regarded as a leader in the program and was named a 2023 captain Arizona’s offensive coordinator, Brennan Carroll (son of Pete Carroll), says Morgan is a “Fantastic role model. The guys follow him and get behind him.”

Team Fit:

After losing future Packer hall-of-famer, David Bakhtiari, the Packers were fortunate to learn that they had more than one outstanding Tackle to protect Jordan Love’s blind side. After alternating time with Yosh Nijman for a while, Rasheed Walker took over the role in December and performed extremely well. Yosh is now in Carolina, however, so we should expect Morgan to bolster depth at the position and compete to be one of the team’s starting 5 lineman in year 1, whether it is at Tackle or Guard.
