Packers will require fans to wear masks

Will NFL games be played in front of fans? Nobody is sure but the Green Bay Packers have announced that if fans are allowed to attend Lambeau, they will be required to wear masks.

"At this time, the team is preparing to have fans in attendance with new policies and safety measures to allow for appropriate social distancing, which will require the stadium's seating capacity to be significantly reduced," an announcement from the team stated. "Face coverings also will be required, and other necessary precautions will be in place. As a result, the special experience to which fans are accustomed at Lambeau Field will look and feel very different."

For now, the NFL has shown no indication of playing games without fans, despite the COVID-19 pandemic showing no signs of going away. It seems that if fans are going to attend, teams will end up following the Packers' lead and requiring fans to socially distance in order to ensure the safety of both the fans and the teams. It's unclear if the Packers are planning to limit the number of fans that will attend games.

"The Packers are planning to make necessary adjustments in order to conduct games and other events in as safe a manner as possible in the best interest of fans, players and team and league personnel," the press release concluded. "All preparations are being made with the latest advice of medical and public health officials and are subject to change."

The Packers are scheduled to host the Detroit Lions on Sept. 20.
