Another Philadelphia Eagles legendary player has announced their intention to retire from playing in the NFL. Star offensive lineman Jason Kelce announced his plans to retire last week after 13 years with the Eagles.

Fletcher Cox announced his retirement from the Philadelphia Eagles

Per a statement by Fletcher Cox on his X account, the four-time All-Pro will join Kelce in retirement this offseason.

Cox had a successful NFL career

Cox is retiring after spending 12 seasons in the NFL. The future Hall of Fame defender was a key player in the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII win over the New England Patriots and earned six Pro Bowl appearances during his time with the Eagles.

Cox recorded 519 total tackles, 70 sacks, and 16 forced fumbles in his NFL career.

The Eagles defensive line will look younger

The Eagles defensive line will look much different than the one that was one of the most feared units in the league on the 2022 team that made the Super Bowl. The Eagles are reportedly shopping Haason Reddick and Josh Sweat before free agency.

The team drafted Cox’s replacement in last April’s draft when they took Jalen Carter. Carter had a solid rookie season, but they’ll ask him to step up with his former Georgia teammate, defensive end Nolan Smith, for the 2024 season.

Fortunately for the Eagles, they will have Brandon Graham back for the upcoming season after signing him to a one-year deal on Saturday.
