Producer reveals what to expect from Tom Brady documentary

Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will be getting the Michael Jordan-like treatment next year with a documentary on the 42-year-old titled "Man In the Arena."

The nine-episode ESPN series will cover each of Brady's nine Super Bowl runs, and Gotham Chopra, who directed "Tom vs. Time," is the producer of the series.

Chopra recently revealed what we can expect from the documentary in an interview with Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, and he said it's not going to be anything like "The Last Dance" because Brady still is playing.

“This is inside the mind of Tom,” Chopra told Breer. “So we’ll ask Tom, I’ll use the most obvious one, 2001, What was it like working with Drew [Bledsoe] that season? Got it, now we go talk to Drew, and get his perspective on that. So yeah, there are other voices, other players, coaches, etc., and people off the field that had a lot of influence across those specific seasons that we’re trying to get. Now, we’ve got the added layer of complexity of getting to those people, like everyone else in the world, we’re dealing with that.”

Chopra also revealed that the series will cover both the "Spygate" and "Deflategate" controversies that arose during Brady's 20-year career in New England, As of right now, Brady's time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers isn't in the cards to be included in the documentary.

Brady signed a two-year, $50 million deal with the Buccaneers in March and has since been involved in some pretty interesting situations since moving to Tampa. The six-time Super Bowl champion has entered the wrong home while trying to meet with offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich and was thrown out of a Tampa park for working out there while it was closed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Brady has also managed to team up with head coach Bruce Arians and Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Cam Brate and O.J. Howard on offense while also getting Rob Gronkowski to come out of retirement. So, maybe adding an extra episode on his first season in Tampa may not be such a bad idea?
