Prominent NFL players who could be cut after training camp

Agholor was a complete bust in his first year of a lucrative two-year contract, and the Pats aren't equipped to employ deadweight at the wideout position. He could be on a chopping block with a poor preseason.

Formerly an opportunistic wideout for Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, Allison has had trouble finding regular work since 2019. Atlanta needs all the help they can get at wide receiver, but that doesn't mean Allison will be able to stick around.

Bernard was added as a third-down back last year after a long career in Cincinnati, but he had only 23 receptions in 12 games. With the addition of rookie Rachaad White, Bernard's roster spot could be in jeopardy.

Charlton's career hasn't gone as hoped since being drafted in the first round of the 2017 draft by Dallas. He managed to play 11 games for Pittsburgh last season, contributing very little on the stats sheet. A deep Saints defensive line could lead to Charlton's release this year.

Ferrell was seen as a monumental overdraft in 2019, going fourth overall, and his play has proven the draft heads correct. After recording only 1.5 sacks last season, Ferrell is fighting for his roster spot in his fourth NFL season with a new front office.

Gaskin was a breakout performer in 2020, but seemed to fall out of favor for the Dolphins last season. After the team added Chase Edmonds and a new coaching staff, Gaskin could be cut.

Speed receivers usually don't age well, and Goodwin hasn't had a prominent role for an NFL team since 2018. Seattle added him as depth, but the 32-year-old still has to prove he's worthy of a roster spot.

The hype surrounding Isabella has been much greater than the on-field performance. He has elite speed, but Isabella hasn't done much since being drafted in the second round in 2019 due to his lack of size and route running. With a deep wideout position in Arizona, Isabella could be cut before his fourth campaign.

The Raiders raised eyebrows when Jacobs was active and playing during the Hall of Fame game. The team also failed to exercise the fifth-year option on the former first-round pick after he's struggled to find holes over the last two seasons. With good depth at running back, a Jacobs cut would be a surprising but not unfathomable scenario.

A former fan favorite in Cleveland, Johnson's workload and roster security has been at issue recently. Buffalo's deep running back depth didn't seem to be an excellent fit for Johnson when he signed, and he might need some luck to remain with the team for Week 1.

Jones is just one year removed from accumulating over 1,100 yards from scrimmage for the Bucs, but he didn't have a big free agent market. With the return of Jerick McKinnon and emergence of seventh-round pick Isiah Pacheco in camp, Jones could be packing his bags soon.

Garoppolo is still searching for a trade after offseason shoulder surgery, but there don't seem to be any clear fits yet. It's clear that his future isn't in San Francisco, and the team might release him if a viable trade isn't found.

Gordon spent much of last season on the Chiefs practice squad and looked lost when he did play. The former superstar with the Browns now faces a bad numbers game, as the Chiefs have added significant wide receiver depth.

A former first-round pick by the Vikings, Hughes found the field regularly for the Chiefs last season but struggled. A clean slate in Detroit isn't necessarily a good thing, as the Lions could favor younger players over Hughes.

Montgomery has long been a Swiss Army Knife on offense, though he's shown very little production since leaving Green Bay in 2018. The hope is that he will be a fit as a third down back for the Patriots, but he's just as likely to be cut from their deep running back room.

Peterman has four NFL starts, but his performance on the field has been poor. Chicago is searching for a veteran backup for Justin Fields, though Peterman probably isn't the answer.

The Eagles infamously drafted Reagor ahead of Justin Jefferson in the first round of the 2020 draft, and it looks like a worse decision with every passing day. With the addition of A.J. Brown, Reagor might not only lose a prominent role but potentially his roster spot.

A first-round pick by the Cardinals in 2018, Rosen's prospects for a roster spot increased when Deshaun Watson was officially suspended for 11 games. There remains a possibility Cleveland adds another quarterback from outside the organization, but even if that doesn't happen, Rosen will need to play his way onto the roster.

Rudolph has been Pittsburgh's primary backup over the last three seasons, but that's almost certain to change after the team added Mitchell Trubisky and Kenny Pickett. The possibility that the Steelers will carry only two quarterbacks would mean Rudolph is cut.

At age 33, Sanu is just hanging on in the NFL. The former starter in Atlanta had only 15 receptions for the 49ers last season. He knows new head coach Mike McDaniel's offense, but that doesn't mean he will keep his roster spot.

Slayton has been a strong contributor for the Giants during his first two seasons, but he fell out of favor last year. With a new coaching staff and the addition of rookie Wan'Dale Robinson, Slayton is a candidate to be cut or traded.

Sorensen looked like early last season with the Chiefs and was eventually benched. That didn't stop the veteran from getting a contract in New Orleans, but it's difficult to envision a roster spot unless he reverses course this summer.

Snead was a great contributor for New Orleans during his first two NFL seasons, but he's not just trying to prolong his career. He had only four catches between Carolina and Las Vegas last year and has long odds to make the 49ers roster.

The addition of Watkins was a half-hearted effort by the Packers to improve their defunct wide receiver corps this offseason. While there isn't much-proven competition, Watkins' long history of injuries have probably caught up to him at age 29.
