Raiders' Chandler Jones looks like a major free-agent flop

The Raiders have had several free agency flops over the past decade. They can add Chandler Jones to the growing list.

In March, Las Vegas signed Jones to a three-year contract with $32 million guaranteed. Adding Jones seemed like a good idea because they were fortifying their defense with a four-time Pro Bowler.

Jones hasn't met expectations. He's only recorded half of a sack in seven games. He recorded 10.5 sacks last season in Arizona.

As a result, his playing time has decreased. Against New Orleans, he only played on 62 percent of defensive snaps, a season-low. In the Raiders' previous five games, Jones played on 81.5 percent of defensive snaps.

It's disappointing because Jones has struggled, and the Raiders' defense has failed to improve.

When Las Vegas signed Jones, it hoped he would transform the defense into a top-tier unit. In 2021, it had a decent defense that surrendered 337.2 yards per game, which was better than the league average. This year it's allowing 366.2 yards per game, worse than the league average.

Consequently, the Raiders are 2-5 and are last in the AFC West.
