Raiders must look into Aaron Rodgers

An Aaron Rodgers trade is becoming more realistic, so Las Vegas should call Green Bay and acquire a four-time league MVP.

"There's a real possibility that both sides (Green Bay and Rodgers) are going to think about him being traded," said ESPN's Adam Schefter recently.

"If the Packers got the right package, they could do a deal for Aaron Rodgers," said NFL Network's Ian Rapoport Monday on the "Pat McAfee Show."

A Rodgers deal may interest Las Vegas. It's moving on from starting QB Derek Carr and lacks a replacement. "Depending on the Aaron Rodgers situation in Green Bay, he could also be an option," wrote Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas-Review Journal.

Green Bay might covet the Raiders' assets. They have the No.7 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, per Tankathon, and former Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller, who the Packers almost acquired during the trade deadline, via Rapoport.

Per OverTheCap, Rodgers will earn $60 million guaranteed in 2023. Accommodating his salary presents an obstacle but not an impossibility.

Las Vegas has $21.8M in cap space, per Spotrac. Trading Carr creates $34.8M in cap space. Releasing Carr before Feb. 15 incurs a $5.6M cap hit, but $29.2M is left over. Also, other moves save money.

Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Raiders are interested in Tampa Bay's Tom Brady. While Brady is a seven-time Super Bowl champion, Rodgers is a better option.

Rodgers threw more passing TDs in 2022 and is six years younger than Brady.

The Raiders ranked 12th in total offense this season. Reuniting Rodgers and former Packer star Davante Adams may vault them into the top 10.
