Raiders request to interview Buccaneers DC Todd Bowles for head-coaching job

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' attempt at defending their Super Bowl crown came to a crashing halt against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC divisional round. Much of the non-playoff talk surrounding the Bucs has now shifted to the status of quarterback Tom Brady and if he will return for the 2022 season.

In recent weeks, another man on the Tampa Bay sidelines has garnered significant attention as to where he'll be once next season starts. On Tuesday afternoon, it was reported that defensive coordinator Todd Bowles has yet another team interested in bringing him aboard.

Bowles — who has been Tampa's defensive coordinator since 2019 — has already interviewed for or been asked about multiple head-coaching gigs, including for the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. The 58-year-old was the Miami Dolphins' interim head coach at the end of the 2011 season and was the head coach for the New York Jets from 2015-2018, posting a 26-41 combined record.

The Raiders ended the 2021 regular season at 10-7 and lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC wild-card round. Among the other candidates for their head coaching position is Rich Bisaccia, who took over as the interim lead man in October 2021 following the resignation of Jon Gruden.

Bisaccia led the Raiders to a 7-5 record over the final dozen games and to their first postseason berth since 2016.
